Janet Brent

I sit here sipping hot tea… been enjoying a new blog called “The Purple Panda”

This blog is different.  She (Janet) is an American born Filipino.  She left Portland, Oregon to discover her roots and maybe a whole lot more about herself.

I first heard about her through another friend, Ashlee Ambirge from “The Middle Finger Project” This is one I follow and just love her writing style and it’s sexy sassiness of course!

Ash

Janet has is currently  somewhere near Manila living extremely modestly giving up comfort for self discovery and ease for a life filled with adventure   How many people do you know who have walked 660 km just in Palawan?

Yes, she is different from most blogs in this niche but I think you will find her entertaining, funny and at the very least, interesting.

I would encourage you to go over to her blog and check it out.  She is young compared to most of the Filipino bloggers I follow but you will find her ideas fresh and you might even learn something.

Oh, yes, Janet has many talents and is available for hire.

wow!! So honoured that you post this. Have to clarify one thing though.. Philippine born 1st generation immigrant and American by culture!! :) I didn’t even have the typical Fil-Am upbringing since I was raised in a white community.. No California asian posse or Jollibee for me, talaga! Can’t thank you enough.. Just saw this popped up in my google analytics when I finally decided to check it again.. Of course, I LOVE Ashley too. Big fan. Followed Ash, Colin and Andi and saw you hosted them with delicious Filipino food (saw the pics on facebook)… That’s how I first “found” you I think. Thanks again for the review!! Glad to see that I’m “different” lol. In the “non-conformist” niche, the social rule still tends to call for conformity. It’s an irony that I see growing up as a non-conformist so I’ve walked a fine line and tried not to associate my ego TOO much with the label. Good to hear I’ve got something different to offer! It’s actually a worry of mine since there are SO many blogs in this niche that all seem to talk about the same thing. I really think I’ve got something going for me with the Philippines angle. Yay Philippines!! :)

So glad you found the site. Figured you might if you did ever check in on Google A.

Yeah, glad you picked up blogging again, I wasn’t really a follower of yours (except on twitter). Your writing is what knocks me out! You write deeply with long sentences and it makes one want to follow along to see what will happen next..

Looked up your current” landlord” on Google and he seems to be a cool dude..

Hey, there is another Pinay blogger out there who is about polar opposite of you.

She is at http://www.pinayonthemove.com Her name is Grace and she was born and raised in the Philippines but traveled to the U.S. on a tourist visa and ended up staying for six years.

She is getting ready to travel back to the Philippines soon.

Just thought it interesting that you too women swapped countries, one to explore her roots and another to discover an new land..both Filipina..

I can go in and edit the post a little so it will be accurate! Then your comment won’t make much sense though!

I’ve never heard of the term landlord in that way before but you must mean my boyfriend?? Yeah, he’s a somewhat high profile guy here in the Phils, especially in the Arnis circle. I guess I forgot you told me Grace was coming back soon because I was so surprised to hear she was coming back the *night* I commented on her blog. I didn’t see any mention of coming back home in her recent articles or maybe I’m just dense.

I’ve been to your site before when we first connected on Twitter and via Ash! Thanks for the compliment on my writing.  One of my passions. :)

I plan on meeting her when I get to Manila next month.  She does web design as well.
