France Modifies Travel Advisory For The Philippines

I can’t believe France is taking the lead on this!  France has never been my favorite country politically but I certainly welcome their relaxation of the travel advisory.  I feel it is time for the U.S. to step up and smell the coffee!  It pisses me off!, I mean the arrogance of the U.S. to issue the warnings to it’s citizens about the Philippines.

A recent survey came out about the most dangerous American Cities.  Guess what?  St. Louis Missouri (about two hours from my house) was voted most dangerous.

The study by CQ Press found St. Louis had 2,070.1 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, compared with a national average of 429.4.

A spokesman for the St. Louis police department said responding to the news Erica Van Ross, spokeswoman for the St. Louis Police Department, called the rankings irresponsible.

“Crime is based on a variety of factors. It’s based on geography, it’s based on poverty, it’s based on the economy,” Van Ross said.

“That is not to say that urban cities don’t have challenges, because we do,” Van Ross said. “But it’s that it’s irresponsible to use the data in this way.”

I just think it is hypocritical that America looks down it’s nose at the Philippines when they have so many problems of their own!

Sorry I keep posting about this topic but it just frosts me that people who may be considering traveling to the Philippines may think twice about going due the the U.S. warnings.

You will have to be aware of your surroundings anywhere you go in the world.  It is no different in the Philippines.

Hi Randall! I’ve been in St. Louis many times, and not surprised to hear it is the most dangerous city in America. It’s a rough place, far more dangerous than any place I have been to in the Philippines.

I do feel safer in the Philippines than in downtown STL

    Hi Randall,
the issues are based mainly on kidnappings and ongoing civil disputes in Mindanao and with the Philippines communist army. Its unlikely to change for some time. But at the same time I would say several countries warn about visiting the UK due to active terrorism issues there. Generally I think anywhere in the world has an element of risk at the same time if your not doing anything illegal or political the risks drop considerably.
